#1 beekeeping website in the world!
Since 1996, the world’s beekeeping community has used the Apiservices’ beekeeping portal (in four languages: English, French, Spanish and German) to keep informed, to exchange views with other beekeepers and to buy or sell beekeeping products /services.
So "Who are we?" or rather "Who is Gilles RATIA”, owner and webmaster of this website?
In the 1970s I was a professional beekeeper in the southwest of France with 500 migratory hives and also an Apis Mellifera mellifera queen breeder. I was one of the first “Nature et Progrès” registered organic standard beekeepers. I then worked as an international beekeeping consultant in 134 countries conducting feasibility studies, as well as the monitoring and evaluation of beekeeping development projects. I have written many popular articles, mainly for the French beekeeping journal Abeilles et Fleurs.
Due to this varied beekeeping experience, I was elected President of Apimondia – The International Federation of Beekeeping Associations - for many years.
Also passionate about IT, I developed the first Minitel server for beekeeping (in the late 80s), plus software for the beekeeping community: Gestapic, Apilogic, etc. and quite naturally I got involved in websites as soon as the network was opened in France.
All the following domain names which point to the current site: www.beekeeping.org, www.apiculture.com, www.la-apicultura.com, www.imkerei.com, www.apiexpo.com etc., are known worldwide.
